We write to you all from our Conference Board meeting tonight to update everyone on the latest since the membership voted down the recent tentative agreement on Wednesday evening. Many thought MPM would jump right back with a better offer. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We met with IUE-CWA President Carl Kennebrew, who reached out to Momentive since they did not want to go any further, according to our Bargaining Chair. As it stands, this is the last move in this early bargaining session. If voted down again, this will take the bargaining into June of next year. We tried to focus on healthcare (this agreement gives relief in January 2019, one year ahead of current contract, and next contract), general wage increases/ signing bonuses and settling a couple of cases we've tried to get to arbitration. In short, MPM left Article V alone and all other contract provisions including successor language that we explained at the membership meetings is really needed by us with the upcoming sale pending . Also, MPM didn't push for any concessions for the very first time. Below is a summary comprised by Bill Stackman explaining the terms. All bargaining team members voted to bring back with this modification. We ask once again to re-consider your opinion on this contract and support the vote. Thank you.
